As well as our stunning landscape, fantastic walks and self-guided cycling holidays, the Peak District has some wonderful attractions whilst visiting Matlock and top things to do in Derbyshire and  the Peak District, for all the family, young and old to enjoy. We are able to provide our guests with special offers for four of the most popular attractions in Matlock and the Peak District, close to Derwent House self-catering, so please ask before you go ahead and book them. As we pass ticket sales direct to the attractions we ask for cash payment. Alternatively, they can be added to your bill if paying with debit card.

Why visit the Peak District? Its got breath-taking views, its a protected nature conservation with one of 3 dark sky sites, so come and take in our starry skies. We have stunning landscapes, fantastic cycling, climbing, history and culture.

The Heights of Abraham cable cars above Matlock

The Heights of Abraham

The Heights takes visitors by cable car to the top of the hill and offers stunning views over the Derwent Valley. At the heights, you can visit the caverns, Tinker’s shaft lookout platform and enjoy a range of other attractions. All tickets to Heights of Abraham need to be booked in advance. If you are staying with us at Derwent House you are able to book discounted tickets.  Once you arrive you need to collect an accommodation card, add your booking number and present this when visiting the Heights of Abraham.

Chatstworth bridge and gardens

Chatsworth House & Gardens

The seat of the Duke of Devonshire, Chatsworth House is a jewel in the Peak District, Chatsworth is one of the best examples of historic houses and gardens. We offer discounted tickets for adults to visit the house and gardens. We are also able to offer discounted parking. Tickets do not need to be booked in advance. With our tickets, you are able to enter the gardens from opening and the house any time from 12 pm. You can collect your tickets when staying with us. If you are booking other attractions or a family ticket there are details on the Chatsworth website. We are able to provide discounted tickets up to 29th October, excluding 1-3rd September.

Haddon Hall

Haddon Hall is probably the finest example of a fortified medieval manor house in existence. Present-day Haddon Hall dates from the 12th Century to the early 17th Century, whereupon it lay dormant for over two hundred years until the 9th Duke and Duchess of Rutland restored the house and gardens, and once again made it habitable. We have discounted tickets for Haddon Hall up to 24th September. Tickets do not need to be booked in advance and can be collected while you are staying at Derwent House. Visit their website 



Crich Tramway Museum

Crich houses some wonderful examples of historic trams. Much of the work is done by volunteers and offers a wonderful insight into this mode of transport. Throughout the year Crich also stages several event days. We offer discounted tickets for adults, concessions and families. We offer discounted tickets to Crich Tramway museum. These can be collected while staying with us. Crich is not open every day, so please check their website in advance.


Matlock golf club

Matlock Golf Club

Matlock golf club offers a challenging 18-hole par 70 course with spectacular views across the Derwent Valley. All guests staying at Derwent House will be entitled to their members’ guest rate. The course is a regular venue for inter-county fixtures. Visit their website.
